About this document
This is the second annual report of the Natural Heritage Trust as required under section 43 of the Natural Heritage Trust of Australia Act 1997.
The Government’s vision for the Trust is now a reality. This report demonstrates the remarkable diversity of activities being supported by the Trust and the unprecedented level of resources being made available. The Trust is achieving progress towards integrating biodiversity conservation and sustainable production. The environment has become a mainstream issue for farmers and successful conservation measures must address the significant areas of Australia managed for primary production. The Trust has mobilised natural resource managers and community groups from regional, urban and coastal areas who share a commitment to environmental repair and rehabilitation.
The report highlights consolidation in the administration of the Trust, including streamlined measures for delivering funding to community groups and simplification of the application guidelines.
