About this document
This is the sixth annual report of the Natural Heritage Trust as required under section 43 of the Natural Heritage Trust of Australia Act 1997.
During 2002-03 the Natural Heritage Trust entered a significant new phase. Having recognised the continued major natural resource management challenges facing the country, the government extended the Trust a further five years from July 2002, with a commitment of $1.032 billion. Building on the extensive investment of over $1.8 billion for the first five years, with the immeasurable support of Australian volunteer community groups and individuals, the new Trust goes even further in engaging the community in natural resource management and environment protection activity, by investing in actions under community-driven regional natural resource management plans.
